A Family Legacy

Twenty years ago

Don Alfredo and Doña Luisa decided to leave their milking farm and agriculture plots aside, activities they lived on for approximately 30 years. They decided to preserve this mountain, reforest the pastures and give life to what is now the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge which is an important biological corridor and home to many species.

This refuge is one of the most important areas for conservation of species like the endangered tree Ocotea Monteverdensis and primary source of food for bird species like the Quetzal, Bellbird and Oil Bird.

For three generations now, the Camacho family has managed to keep this conservation project alive. And today, with more responsibility and commitment than ever, they desire to collaborate with the protection and restoration of the wildlife in Monteverde and Costa Rica
